Our Values

Our Mission

The East Boston Community Soup Kitchen strives to feed, shelter, and assist with the recovery and self-care of the hungry and homeless in our community, and to do so without judgment or exclusivity.

East Boston Community Soup Kitchen strives to be a welcoming, dignified space where our guest can experience the compassion and respect they may struggle to find in everyday life. While many of our guest seek food, warmth, and other physical aids, many come in search of a social and emotional support system, of which we gladly offer.

We work alongside many well-known figures who have and continue to volunteer, at which time, they drop their titles, education, and affluence at the door and are only there to serve our community. As we are a space that ensures everyone is equal. We strive to treat each person with the same respect we ourselves expect.

Treating everyone with dignity

We are blessed to have many well-known community figures come volunteer, but regardless of titles, education, or affluence, everyone is equal in our space. Volunteers must treat guests with the respect they themselves expect. Everyone who volunteers is expected to help with setting up, prepping food, washing dishes, serving, and anything in between.

Dropping our titles at the door

Acting with the environment in mind.

We partner with Gaining Grounds Farm, a local nonprofit farm, to bring fresh, organically grown produce to our guests’ plates. Additionally, we make trips to a nearby compost bin each Tuesday.
